Building a culture of care, connection, and compassion.
“Abolition envisions a world where we address harm without relying on the violent systems that increase it, a world where ‘we have everything we need: food, shelter, education, health, art, beauty, clean water, and more things that are foundational to our personal and community safety.’” - Mariame Kaba from We Do This ‘Til We Free Us: Abolitionist Organizing and Transforming Justice
About Us
We are a group in Santa Cruz working to abolish the Prison Industrial Complex (PIC) and build a better society that works for all of us. The Prison Industrial Complex (PIC) refers to prisons, police, and other forms of policing.
Abolition Santa Cruz is for anyone who wants to work towards an abolitionist future in the Santa Cruz area! We live in a system that forces us to earn our existence. Abolition is about building up new systems as much as it is about tearing down systems of oppression. It is about liberation of all people from all forms of oppression.
